Gears of the Tao: Density, Non-Density, and the Machinery of Becoming There is an old tendency in spiritual thought to imagine enlightenment as escape. Escape from the body. Escape from emotion. Escape from the world. Escape from responsibility. But the Tao has never seemed interested in escape. The Tao flows through rivers, lungs, cities, forests, arguments, grief, sunlight, insects, lovers, stars, and silence alike. It does not reject form. It moves through form.
